How to Build a Solid Professional Network

The community around HQ Promotions knows how vital strong professional networks are in progressing small businesses. That’s why the members actively seek ways to connect with other like-minded individuals. Here are some methods from Jarrod, HQ Promotions’ Owner, that we can all use to expand our contacts:

• Consider Your Needs: There are multiple options for anyone to build his or her network. By recognising our own goals, we can better identify which avenues to explore. We might choose to join an organisation. We could volunteer for a worthy cause that attracts other pros. When we are strategic in our approach, we stand a better chance of aligning ourselves with the right group.

• Start Online: Before we invest in a particular networking function or society, we should do research to understand their objectives and membership. There is plenty of information on LinkedIn and other social media platforms that can aid us in this search. If we do decide to attend an event, we can view profiles of attendees so that we have a better idea of whom we might make the effort to meet.

• Expand Outside of the Industry: I always encourage people to step outside and meet others who might not be in sales and marketing. You never know who you might encounter at an art gallery opening or other event. Sometimes the most prosperous connections develop over a mutual interest.
